R.look · Chrome extension
Privacy Policy
Last updated 31 August 2026 · Version 1.6
R.look does not collect your personal data. It has no server, no account, and no analytics. Everything it stores stays on your own computer.
What R.look is
R.look is a Chrome extension, built on Manifest V3, that replaces your new tab page with one you design yourself. It provides a theme engine, a widget system, custom icons, tab groups that organise themselves in the background, and a live in-browser editor.
What R.look stores
R.look stores only the things it needs to look and behave the way you set it up:
- Your theme, colours and layout choices
- The widgets you have added and how you arranged them
- Custom icons and shortcuts you created
- Your tab group preferences
This is held in your browser's own extension storage, on your device. It is not transmitted anywhere. If you sign in to Chrome and have extension sync enabled, Chrome may sync this settings data across your own devices under your own Google account — that is a Chrome feature, governed by Google's privacy policy, and R.look neither controls it nor can read it.
What R.look does not do
- It does not collect, transmit or sell personal information
- It does not create an account or ask you to sign in
- It does not run analytics, telemetry or tracking of any kind
- It does not show advertising
- It does not read the content of the pages you visit
- It does not record your browsing history
- It does not send data to any server, because it has none
- It does not load or execute remote code
Permissions, and why each one exists
- Storage
- To keep your themes, widgets, icons and layout between sessions, on your device. Without it, R.look would forget your setup every time you opened a tab.
- New tab override
- To display your own new tab page in place of the default one. This is the extension's core function.
- Tabs and tab groups
- To read the titles and URLs of your open tabs so it can sort them into groups automatically. This happens locally, in the moment, to arrange your tabs. Nothing about your tabs is stored as history or sent anywhere.
Third parties
R.look has no third-party services, no SDKs and no external dependencies that receive data. Nothing is shared with anyone, because nothing is collected in the first place.
Chrome Web Store user data policy
R.look's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Children
R.look is not directed at children and collects no personal data from anyone, of any age.
Removing your data
Uninstalling R.look removes everything it stored. There is no account to close and no copy held elsewhere for you to request the deletion of.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the revised version will be published at this address with a new date at the top. Material changes will be reflected in the extension's store listing.
