R.look

A new tab worth keeping · Live on the Chrome Web Store

R.look is a Chrome extension, built on Manifest V3, that replaces your new tab page with one you design yourself — a theme engine, a widget system, custom icons, tab groups that organise themselves in the background, and a live in-browser editor.

R.look replacing the Chrome new tab page with a custom themed layout. The new tab page, rebuilt as something worth landing on.

What it does

  • A theme engine. The look is yours to set, not a choice between three presets.
  • Widgets and custom icons. The page carries what you actually use, arranged how you want it.
  • Self-organising tab groups. Groups sort themselves in the background rather than waiting to be tidied.
  • A live in-browser editor. Changes apply as you make them — no reload, no options page round-trip.

What it was built to prove

R.look shipped on its original date. Features came out of the release; the date stayed. It is the piece in the collection that exists to make that trade concrete — scope is the variable, the date is not.
